GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — One person was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash south of Grand Island.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened at 10:36 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 and Guenther Road. Investigators say a 2021 Freightliner box truck, driven by 35-year-old Adrian Sanchez Rios of Grand Island, was traveling northbound when it lost control, crossed the median, and struck a southbound 2017 Chevrolet pickup on the driver’s side.
The driver of the pickup, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene. Sanchez Rios was not injured.
An accident reconstruction team responded to the crash site, and an autopsy has been ordered as part of the ongoing investigation.
