Emil Sonnenfeld of Ord passed away unexpectedly on October 6, 2025, at his home in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 63.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ord. Father Mark Maresh will be the Mass Celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Catholic Cemetery at Ord, Nebraska. The Rosary will be recited on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family. Ord

Emil was born August 17, 1962, in Ord, Nebraska to Martin and Caroline (McCarville) Sonnenfeld. He grew up on the family farm northeast of Ord with his eight siblings and helped his dad with the farm work. Emil received his education at Ord Public Schools.
Emil lived most of his life in Ord, with the exception of living in Ansley for five years. He worked in various capacities including the Broken Bow Pizza Hut, J & J Sanitation and assisted at a lawn care business.
He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Emil loved music, especially old rock ānā roll, Chuck Berry and Johnny Cash. Emil was known around town for driving his black Trail Blazer and frequent visits to the local business. Working on his Trail Blazer and tinkering with car parts were things he enjoyed; however, he was best known for socializing.
Survivors include his seven siblings, Martin and Jeanie Sonnenfeld of South Dakota, Adrian and Cynthia Sonnenfeld of Ord, Dwaine and Sue Sonnenfeld of Indiana, Cecilia Sonnenfeld, Charlene and Franklin Moore of Virginia, Cheyenne Snow of Nevada and Troy and Gale Sonnenfeld of Fairmont; a sister-in-law, Diana Sonnenfeld of Boelus; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Leon Sonnenfeld.
