A routine traffic stop in Grand Island ended with a DUI arrest over the weekend. According to the Grand Island Police Department, an officer pulled over a vehicle around 8:47 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th, near the intersection of Locust Street and Schimmer Road, after noticing excessive tint below the AS-1 line on the windshield.
The AS-1 line, typically about five inches from the top of the windshield, marks the limit where tinting is allowed under Nebraska law. Any material below that line that isn’t clear and transparent is considered illegal.
During the stop, officers identified the driver as Alexzaiah Deras, who was later cited for second-offense driving under the influence, open container, excessive window tint, and driving without an ignition interlock device.
Deras was booked into the Hall County Department of Corrections shortly after 11 p.m. on multiple charges stemming from the incident.
