Jeffrey J. Moody, Sr. age 62, of Burwell, Nebraska, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on October 21, 2025. A proud Army veteran, volunteer firefighter, devoted husband, and the unshakable foundation of his family, Jeff lived his life with a quiet strength that spoke louder than words ever could.
Born to Gary Moody and Sheila Krikac on September 18, 1963, Jeff learned early the value of hard work, loyalty, and a good cup of coffee before sunrise. Those lessons carried him through every chapter of life. Jeff served his country with honor, in the United States Army, stationed in Germany for three years. He owned and operated Moody Home Improvement with the kind of work ethic that could wear out men half his age.
For 42 years, Jeff was the loving husband and steadfast caretaker to his wife, Deb Moody. Together they built not only a family, but a legacy – six children and sixteen grandchildren who will forever remember his firm hand, kind heart, and the twinkle in his eye that usually meant he was about to tell you to “quit standing around and grab a hammer.”
Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. He showed love through service – to his family, his community, and his country. Whether he was fixing something that wasn’t really broken, grilling just “a few more burgers,” or sneaking candy to the grandkids when their mom wasn’t looking, Jeff had a way of making everyone feel safe, steady, and deeply loved.
Jeff was a member of St. Libory’s Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Among his favorite things to do were organize his wrenches, sing karaoke, go jeeping and SXS’ing, drive to Menards, tinker in his shop, and play poker and golf. He was known to have business meetings at Scratchtown with his lawyer/best friend and most of all he loved his family time with the kids and grandkids.
He was fiercely loyal, brave without ever boasting, and humble to the core – the kind of man you don’t fully realize is the family’s rock until you try to stand without him.
He is survived by his wife, Deb Moody; six children, Jessica Pedersen (Brandon), Joshua Moody (Kersha), Tonya Gehle (Brandon), Kyle Moody (Amanda), Gabriele Sayaloune (Vonsinh), and Jeffrey Moody Jr. (Allie); sixteen grandchildren, mother, Cheryl Moody; bother, Brent A. Moody (Jen); mother-in-law, Louise Holeman and countless friends and neighbors who were lucky enough to know him.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Gary Moody; mother, Sheila Krikac; father-in-law, Gene Holeman and brother, Greg Moody.
