Roger F. Arnold of Ord passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord, Nebraska at the age of 84.
Roger Floyd was born November 7, 1941, to Floyd and Viola (Cochran) Arnold at Ord, Nebraska. He grew up on the family farm in Valley County, Nebraska, along with his five siblings. He attended Ord High School, graduating in 1961.
Roger proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966 and was stationed in Japan for two of those years.
Roger and Pamela Kay Warner were united in marriage on June 12, 1965, at the Mira Valley Church south of Ord. Roger and Pam made their home in Ord where they raised their two children, Tammy and Timothy. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage.
Upon his return from the Navy, Roger worked for Orel Koelling and Ord Coop. He then began his career of driving a truck for Ord Equipment that later became Titan Machinery; retiring after 38 years. Following retirement he continued his passion for driving and worked for local farmers during harvest.
Roger served on the Ord Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for over 50 years. He belonged to the Ord Elks Lodge, was a 55-year member of the of the VFW and a member of the Mira Valley Church where he was active in the United Methodist Men’s group.
Hunting and fishing with his grandson, playing cards and square dancing were his favorite hobbies. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was known for his sense of humor and joking.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pam of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Michele Arnold of St. Paul; three grandchildren, Katrina Timmerman, Justin Timmerman and Brittany Kolterman; two great-grandchildren, Aria Rafferty and Sutton Kolterman; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Sandy Arnold of Grand Island and Pat Arnold of Burwell; a sister, Jean Brill of Lincoln and two brothers-in-law, Ken Horner of Fort Collins, Colorado and Alvin Nelson of Comstock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy Arnold; brother, Donald Arnold; two sisters, Shirley Nelson and Charlene Horner and a brother-in-law, Stan Brill.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Ord First United Methodist Church. Pastor D. Scott Smith will officiate. Interment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented at the graveside by the Ord VFW Post 7029, American Legion Post #38, and Sons of the American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice for future designation.
