Nebraska State Patrol Reports 24 DUI Arrests, Hundreds of Speeding Citations Over Holiday Weekend

The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers removed 24 impaired drivers from state roadways and issued more than 360 speeding citations during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period. The enforcement effort ran from November 26th through November 30th and included extra challenges due to winter weather. Colonel Bryan Waugh, superintendent of the State Patrol, said the conditions made travel more difficult for families and emphasized that troopers will remain active throughout the holiday season to keep motorists safe. In addition to DUI arrests and speeding citations, troopers issued 11 tickets for failure to wear a seat belt, five for improper child restraint, and six citations for minors in possession of alcohol. Patrol units also assisted 303 stranded or disabled motorists statewide.
