Judy N. Bartholomew of Taylor passed away unexpectedly at her home in Taylor, Nebraska on February 8, 2026, at the age of 79 years.
Judy Norine was born April 12, 1946, the eldest child of Howard and Norma (Worden) Maxson. She was born and raised in Burwell, Nebraska where she received her education and graduated from Burwell High School in 1964. Following high school, Judy graduated from Grand Island School of Beauty.
On July 10, 1965, Judy and Harold Bartholomew were united in marriage at Taylor, Nebraska. To this union two children were born, Brent and Shonna. The family made their home in Taylor. Judy provided in-home child day care for many years and worked at the Bridge Club as a waitress. Later, she joined Taylor Public School, where she served as a janitor and then as a cook, before retiring to care for her husband.
Judy had a passion for gardening, particularly for growing flowers, indoor plants, and cacti. She loved watching and feeding birds, especially robins and cardinals, and had a special affection for her three dogs. Her family and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Survivors include, her mother, Norma Maxson of Burwell; a son, Brent Bartholomew of Kearney; a daughter and son-in-law, Shonna and Ty Behmerwohld of Kearney; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers and a sister-in-law, JD Maxson of North Platte, Jerome and Nancy Maxson of Kearney and Joel Maxson of Burwell; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Julie Stevenson of Broken Bow, Jane and Keith Blakenship of Arkansas and Joni and John Nelson of Burwell.
She was preceded in death by her father; her husband, Harold who passed away on November 2, 2025, a daughter-in-law, Cindy Bartholomew; and grandson, Colby Bartholomew.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the Loup County Event Center in Taylor, Nebraska. Pastor Alan Petersen will officiate.
