Grand Island police have taken a 40-year-old man into custody following a reported robbery early Wednesday morning at a local laundromat.
The incident happened around 4:48 a.m. at the Wash House, located at 321 West Koenig Street. According to authorities, a 27-year-old man was inside the business playing a game on his cellphone when he was approached by Abshir Mohamed, who police say is known to the victim.
Investigators allege Mohamed demanded the victim’s cellphone and used a knife during the confrontation, causing a minor cut to the man’s ear. Division Chief Dean Elliott described the injury as slight and not serious.
Mohamed was arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
