Nebraska State Patrol investigators say a tragic shooting in rural Kearney County Saturday is being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide that left one woman dead and three children injured. According to authorities, deputies with the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting Saturday afternoon and discovered a deceased adult woman at the scene. Three children, all under the age of twelve, were also found suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported the children to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, and two were later transferred to Children’s Nebraska in Omaha for additional treatment. Officials say the incident is being investigated as a suicide and attempted triple homicide. Law enforcement emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public, and the names of those involved have not been released in order to protect the identities of the victims. The Nebraska State Patrol continues to lead the investigation with assistance from the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office and the Kearney County Attorney’s Office.
