Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, is mourning the loss of a first-year student from Nebraska. The university announced last week that 19-year-old Jaden Ochsner of Hastings was found deceased in a residence hall during the school’s spring break.
University officials shared the news on social media but did not disclose the cause of death.
Ochsner was a member of the Morningside Mustangs swim team, where he competed in the 200 medley.
In a statement posted online, the university expressed condolences to the student’s family and friends, saying it was a difficult time for the campus community.
“This is a sad day for the Morningside community,” the university said in its message. “Let us find strength in each other by coming together to mourn one of our own and to support each other through this difficult time.”
