GRAND ISLAND — Construction work on U.S. Highway 30 west of Grand Island is scheduled to resume March 12, weather permitting, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
The project covers a stretch of highway from reference post 308.84 to 312.55. Werner Construction of Hastings is serving as the contractor for the improvements.
Work on the project includes adding left-turn lanes at Claude Road, reconstructing the intersection at Old Highway 30 and Stolley Park Road, and completing median surfacing along the corridor. Additional improvements will include lighting installation, permanent pavement markings, erosion control measures, and seeding.
During construction, traffic will remain open with temporary traffic control and signage in place, though a 12-foot width restriction will be enforced throughout the work zone.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation expects the project to be completed by June of 2026.
Motorists traveling through the area are reminded to use caution in construction zones, wear seat belts, and avoid distractions such as cell phones while driving.
