LINCOLN — Nebraska senators have given final approval to a property tax package that is championed by Governor Ricketts.
The bill is designed to benefit farm and ranch landowners. It would provide an additional $20 million in tax credits to offset local property taxes on ag land.
The bill passed 47-1, though some lawmakers initially opposed the measure. They argued that it would create budget hardships for the state next year and do little for people who didn’t work in agriculture.
