BROKEN BOW — Fourth and fifth graders from area schools will head to the Custer County Fairgrounds next Wednesday for Ag Fest 2016.
The event is put on by the Nebraska Extension and focuses on educating children about where their food comes from.
Extension Assistant Colleen Peterson says this event has had a big effect for decade. “We just decided it was a trust in extension to promote agriculture to our students,” she explains. “There were a lot of young people that just were not understanding where our food came from.”
The day will feature session on equipment, produce and livestock.
Students from Broken Bow, Ansley, Anselmo-Merna and Callaway are involved. All-in-all more than 900 kids are expected to come between this event in Custer County and its sister fest in Dawson County.
