TAYLOR — Folks from around the area participated in a 5K and silent auction over the weekend to benefit a Burwell grad.
Ronnie Porter-Magnuson has been battling cancer for several years and all that was raised went to help her and her family.
Amy Hughes plus a few other classmates from the Burwell Class of 1999 helped put the event on and were just happy they could help.
“Whether it be $5, whether it be $1,000, anything that we can do to help her reach that goal and spend time and accomplish something off of her bucket list,” Hughes says.
Nearly 20 items were donated to the silent auction. These ranged from a vase to necklaces to wheat pennies.
Overall, 22 people signed up for the 5K.
