LINCOLN — Former Husker defensive back Joe Blahak has died.
The Columbus native helped lead Nebraska to the 1971 National Championship. He’s best known for laying a key block on Johnny Rodger’s 72-yard punt return for a touchdown in the 1971 “Game of the Century” against Oklahoma.
Blahak spent five seasons in the NFL before returning to Lincoln to work in insurance.
He was 65-years-old.
