GRAND ISLAND — Homemade explosives are believed to have led to a fire at a Grand Island business this week.
The incident left one dead and two others injured.
The Nebraska Fire Marshall says the owner of Winfrey Plumbing and Heating, Mike Winfrey, was manufacturing homemade explosives in the building. The 65-year-old was identified as the deceased.
About 40 firefighters helped put out the fire late Sunday. The two injured were treated at a Grand Island hospital and released. Their names have not been made public.
