LINCOLN — The Nebraska Tourism Commission is being criticized after an audit showed questionable expenses.
These included using state money to reimburse a marketing firm for alcohol and cigarettes, accepting meals from contractors and paying speaking fees to a corporate executive.
Many of these indiscretions were not properly reported.
The commission director has said the activity was not illegal or fraudulent and this audit is a learning experience for her agency.
