ERICSON — The third-annual Ericson Lake catch-and-release derby is set for this weekend.
Folks are welcome to come by for a day of fishing and enjoying the water.
Fred Gerber helps coordinate the event and says the proceeds go to help with upkeep on the lake. “Not only the lake, but also the amenities,” he says. “It is open to the public.”
“We’ve got a couple of nice places, handicap fishing piers and docks and we utilize some of the money for that, as well,” Gerber adds. “Just to keep things nice for folks when they want to go out and utilize the lake.”
This is an area that is still recovering from flooding several years ago.
The cost to enter is $50-per-person. Registration runs from 6:30 A.M. to 7:30 A.M. in the morning, with breakfast available. Fishing starts at 8:15 A.M.
A total of $300 in prizes are up for grabs. This includes $75 for each large fish class. Folks participating will need to bring their phone or digital camera to take a picture of what they catch.
