CHAMBERS — Goose Lake Wildlife Management Area near Chambers will reopen this weekend after being treated for an invasive plant.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will allow traffic through beginning on Saturday.
The lake had been affected by Eurasian watermilfoil. This plant can spread up to two inches-per-day and create surface mats that interfere with boating, fishing and swimming. It is easily carried on boats, trailers and other aquatic sporting equipment.
This is the second time Goose Lake has closed because of the plant. The first was from September until January, while the second has been since April.
