ELYRIA — Folks stopped by Fort Hartsuff this weekend for a birding workshop.
The free event gave people a chance to learn how to identify different types of birds, build houses for them and focus on conservation.
Amy Hughes helped organize the event with the Loup Rivers Scenic Byway. She says that conservation part is key. “Really and truly just knowing what you have in your area helps with conservation in general,” she explains.
“It affects the circle of life,” Hughes continues. “Just like with insects, you get rid of one insect species and it affects everything down the line, including birds.”
All of the bird houses were made using recycled two-liter bottles. In addition, Fontanelle Forests Raptor Recovery out of Kearney stopped by for a presentation to end the morning.
