BURWELL — A roping benefit hit the Garfield County Fairgrounds this weekend to help a local family.
Five-month-old Alayah Guggenmos will be spending the next six months to a year at St. Jude’s Hospital in Tennessee with a cancerous tumor. That’s why Bailea Johnson and the rest of Fire & Ice wanted to help out.
“They’re needing help with some traveling expenses back and forth that St. Jude’s doesn’t cover,” she explains. “So we just kind of wanted to help them out and just see what we can do for them.”
“We’ve had lots of calls, we’ve got ots of donations. It’s been really wonderful,” Johnson adds.
In addition to the roping; a silent auction, bake sale and 50/50 were all set up to raise money fro donations.
The event is something Fire & Ice tries to do every year to help those in need.
