A fifty year old woman from Loup City has been killed in a car crash Thursday afternoon northwest of Central City.
The accident occurred just after 3:45 pm, according to law enforcement officials who responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 14th and T Roads in Merrick County. The 2006 Mitsubishi was headed south on 14th Road and collided with an eastbound 2005 Peterbuilt straight truck.
Theresa Ahrens, fifty years old from Loup City, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers also in the vehicle were taken by helicopter to a hospital for treatment of injuries that officials listed as non life-threatening.
The truck driver, twenty one year old Jacob Kuntz of Genoa, was not injured.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing seat belts according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The crash is being investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol.
