The 11th Annual Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony was held Saturday, June 11th in Broken Bow.
The NSC Hall of Fame honors the individuals who have made an extraordinary contribution to the western lifestyle or horse culture in the Sandhills. These are individuals who have contributed to the areas of competition, business and support of rodeo as well as ranching, rodeo stock contractors, western arts, and western entertainment.
Inductees into the Hall of Fame this year included James “Jim” Svoboda of Ord, Dale Svoboda of Burwell, and Charles Fletch and Joyce Fletcher of Sargent. A social hour was held at 4pm for family and friends to visit. A benefit auction was held as well as the induction ceremony at 6pm.
Nominations to the NSC Hall of Fame are accepted throughout the year. Deadline for acceptance of nominations each year is December 31st. Nominations forms can be obtained by contacting Executive Secretary, Rod Palmer at (402) 387-2212.
Since it’s beginning, 20 individuals were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2006, 11 in 2007, 10 in 2008, 6 in 2009, 5 in 2010. 8 in 2011, 7 in 2012, 13 in 2013, and 10 in 2014. It is notable to say that 3 women have been inducted to date, including Joyce Fletcher of Sargent.
