Region 26 Emergency Management and 911 is having a Weather Symposium for the area residents. This is no joke even though it will be the afternoon of April fools day, this Saturday from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Trotter Event Center in Ord, Nebraska.
The guest visitors will be NTVs Chief Forecaster, Kent Boughton and storm chaser, Dale Kaminski with Storm View Live. There will be talks throughout the afternoon about severe weather and what to watch for in the clouds from both the Hastings and North Platte Weather Services. There will be booths that will have other information including: calling 911, preparedness in a disaster, becoming a HAM Radio operator, registering for CodeRED warning calls, what your County Emergency Planning Committee does for you, how to become a volunteer in a disaster, how to get an ID badge during a disaster, what to put in a disaster kit and how to shelter in place. There will be a poster display of the area severe weather poster contest winners and also a Kids Corner with fun things to do. There will be refreshments and door prizes throughout the afternoon. Region 26 Taylor invites you to head on out to the Trotter Event Center in Ord this Saturday, April 1st between 1 to 5 PM with free admission for all ages.
