The Chanticleer track teams competed in the Central Nebraska All-Area meet on Monday, April 24 at Grand Island Northwest.
In the non-scoring meet, the Chanticleers were able to bring home one medal out of their eleven entries. Zoe Ritz finished third in the 3200-meter run with a personal best time of 12:04.66 to bring home a medal. “Zoe ran a great race by getting out with the leaders and hanging with them as long as she could”, Coach Derry Trampe commented.”She created some distance between her and the chase pack and they were never able to close the gap on her after the first mile of the race.”
Jordan Coufal just missed out on earning a medal as he finished 4th in the 300 IH in a time of 41.98. Danielle Bruha was fifth in the high jump with a leap of 4′ 11″. The 4 X 800 relay teams both finished fifth in their respective races and posted season best times. The girls team of Zoe Ritz, Andrea Carson, Ashley Carson, and Ali Smith finished in a time of 10: 13.1. the boys team of Nate Wells, Colton Rowse, Riley Warner, and Noah Jensen posted a time of 8:52.14.
Clark Bredthauer finished 6th in the high jump with a jump of 5′ 9″. Nate Wells finished 7th in the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:58.56 and both the 4 X 100 relay teams finished 7th in their respective races. The girls team of Andrea Carson, Ashley Carson, Kailey Bruha, and Ali Smith recorded a finish time of 4:24.08. Austin Knapp, Reggie McKenney, Ethan Thomsen, and Jordan Coufal combined to post a time of 3:38.47. Kora Severance finished 8th in the discus with a toss of 92′ 5″. This was her second best effort of the season. Ali Smith competed in the 800 and finished 11th in a time of 2:38.24.
