Press release from the Holt County Attorney’s office:
On the evening of December 23rd, Chambers Fire and Rescue assisted by O’Neill Fire and rescue responded to the scene of a home explosion and fire South East of Chambers, NE. A Trooper with Nebraska State Patrol as well as Deputies with the Holt County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
A 93 year old female was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation findings indicate the cause of explosion/fire to be accidental as a result of a propane release inside of the residence. An autopsy was requested and performed, with the cause of death being accidental related to the explosion/fire. The investigation was conducted by the State Fire Marshal and Holt County Coroner.

CHAMBERS, NEB. – Around 5 pm on Sunday, December 23, 2018 approximately 5 miles southeast of Chambers the Chambers Fire Department responded to a house fire.
One person in the house died in the fire. At this time it is not determined what caused the fire.
The Chambers Fire Department and O’Neill Fire Department assisted at the scene. There is no further information at this time.
