March 7, 2019 (Lincoln, Neb.) — Website redesign makes it easier for users to find public transportation
information.
Earlier this year, Nebraska Public Transit launched its redesigned website in an effort to improve user
experience. The redesign streamlines navigation and increases accessibility to help Nebraskans find
and use transit near them.
The Nebraska Department of Transportation has worked with the University of Nebraska at Omaha
Center for Public Affairs Research (CPAR) and the University of Nebraska at Kearney, as part of the
Advance team, to enhance innovation and safety in Nebraska Transit. Since 2016, the partnership has
managed nebraskatransit.com to provide information on transit options, support transit managers and
provide updates on the teams’ efforts to increase the efficiency, effectiveness, and accessibility of rural
transit in Nebraska.
The redesign of nebraskatransit.com was more than just a layout change. The redesign increases
information for Nebraskans, including an interactive map for finding transit options.
In addition, consistent with Advance’s mission to increase the accessibility of transit, the redesign
improves access for visually impaired users.
Tara Grell, graphic designer at CPAR, explains, “By switching to a content management system the
Nebraska Public Transit team is able to streamline navigation and provide responsive updates to critical
information.”
