According to Region 26 Director and Emergency Manager Alma Belund, Nebraska Emergency Management Agency contacted Region 26 on Thursday evening to notify that FEMA will not be granting Individual Assistance for the Region 26 counties of Thomas, Blaine, Loup, Garfield, Wheeler, Valley, Greeley and Sherman.
“We did not have any homes that we are aware of that are totally destroyed by flood waters or enough that was considered ‘major damage’ of flood waters on the main floor about 18” to put us over the threshold to receive FEMA assistance,” says Belund.
“However, since we border counties that did not receive this assistance it makes residents eligible to apply for a Small Business Administration (SBA) loan.”
To apply for an SBA Loan you can go online using SBA’s secure website at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. Applicants may receive additional information for this daster by visiting the SBA Nebraska Disaster website.
Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.
The filing deadline to return applications for property damage is May 20, 2019.
