December 5, 2019 (Ainsworth, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin December 8 on
the North Loup River Bridge on N-96 west of Burwell, according to the Nebraska Department of
Transportation.
Construction of the new permanent bridge will require the placement of a temporary bridge to be
constructed across the entire width of the channel. The temporary structure will have a low clearance
elevation. The area will be posted with warning devices to alert recreational and watercraft users. The
temporary bridge is anticipated to be removed by early summer of 2020.
The NDOT manager for the project is Carl Hart of Ainsworth.
