A powerful line of thunderstorms formed in North Central Nebraska last night and
caused havoc in Brown, Rock, Keya Paha and Valley counties. Keya Paha
county had their first warning at about 6pm.
Fires were reported in Brown county. The rain helped put out those fires at
about 11:30 pm. Hail and high winds were reported in several areas. The storms
knocked out power in Brown county.
Two inches of rain were reported in Ainsworth and in the O’Neill areas. Winds
were reported at about 60 mph.
Some of the hail amounts reported by the national weather service included
2.75 inches in Keya Paha, and 1.75 inces in Springview.
Wind knocked over the greenhouse covering at Ord’s Ace Hardware.
More severe weather is expected tonight and tomorrow in the KNLV listening
area.
