Hastings City Council votes against “Racino”

In a four hour meeting yesterday, March 14, 2022, the Hastings City Council heard arguments for and against the establishment of the “Racino”. The people in favor of the racino were not surprised when the city council voted against the measure. The people speaking in favor of the racino said it was a missed opportunity to bring additional money into the city and help people stay in Hastings. Despite all the arguing Mayor Corey Stutte said he was proud of the community and that the city will look at other possible locations for the racino as the majority of the community is not opposed to the idea of the racino, they are just opposed to its current proposed location
