Sentencing for Kelsie Bloom for manslaughter in the death of 52 year old Sandy Psota was held
in Valley County district court Tuesday June 21st 2022. Bloom accepted a plea deal and was
found guilty for the September 23rd 2019 death of Sandy Psota. Psota was returning home from
Burwell when the defendant struck Psota at 82 miles per hour, and continued for another 300
feet before coming to a stop. When officers talked to Bloom she stated she didn’t know that
she hit anyone or anything. Bloom had several prescription drugs in her system at the time of
the accident and was on probation at the time of the accident for drug use. In a letter dated May
16th, 2022, James Psota wrote that his life and what he loved is gone, and his children will
never have their mother at any future events. Bloom’s attorney stated she was born with an
addiction. Bloom stated in court she hate’s herself and what she put the Psota family through.
Judge Karin Noakes said Bloom made a series of bad choices, but that the defendant took no
responisibility for her actions. Noakes sentenced Bloom to 2-10 years in prison, but could be
released after serving 1 year, with a minimum of 10 years probation.
