The Grand Island Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place on Monday at around 10:20 p.m. This is the second armed robbery in less than a week that is being investigated. Captain Jim Duering said that the suspect entered the the Sonic Drive In on South Locust St. wearing a mask and with what is believed to be a handgun, he was demanding money and property from the employees. The employees complied with the suspect. He left the Sonic with $1030.68 and a cell phone from one of the employees. The cell phone was later recovered in the parking lot. Capt. Duering said that no shots were fired during the robbery. He said at this moment the police do not have enough information to say whether or not this robbery is connected to the one that occurred earlier in the week at Y&N Liquor on Saturday night.
