Lincoln Police Department investigators with the Narcotics Task Force went up to a vehicle that had been involved in a traffic infraction shortly before turning in to an alley way and parking between E St. and F St. on Monday around 10:20 p.m. The investigators said they asked the two people occupying the vehicle to step out after they reportedly smelled marijuana odors coming from inside the vehicle. 24 year-old Anthony Mixon was one of the people inside the vehicle and as he stepped out of the vehicle he ran from the investigators who pursued him on foot but lost sight of him about five blocks away from the vehicle. They called in a Police Service Dog to try and track Mixon. The dog eventually led officers to the same area where they lost Mixon in the foot pursuit and found him and took him into custody. When the vehicle was searched by officers they found small amounts of methamphetamine, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, and several prescription drugs inside. LPD said that Mixon was charged with possession of controlled substance, obstructing a police officer, and resisting arrest.
