On Monday, the Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report at the intersection of Highway 81 and Highway 30. When they arrived deputies spoke with a 21-year-old woman, who told them that she was assaulted by her boyfriend while they were traveling together. It was reported along with the assault that her boyfriend allegedly attempted to assault her with the vehicle he was driving. PCSO identified the boyfriend as 34-year-old Tobias Jochum. He reportedly fled from the scene before deputies could arrive. Authorities did find Jochum in Butler County later on Monday morning and took him into custody. Jochum was then taken and housed in the Platte County Detention Facility where he was jailed on multiple charges including, attempted second-degree murder, attempted voluntary manslaughter, attempted first-degree assault, criminal mischief, leaving the scene of an accident, and willful reckless driving. As of Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. Jochum was still in custody in Platte County and being held on a $75,000 bond.
