Nebraska has landed its first commitment for the 2026 recruiting class from quarterback Dayton Raiola, who shares a notable family legacy with his older brother currently starting for the Huskers. Dayton, a junior at Buford High School in Georgia, announced his commitment on Sunday night. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 210 pounds, he is slightly shorter than his right-handed brother Dylan, who has just completed his first month as Nebraska’s starting quarterback. Notably, Dayton is left-handed and known for his running abilities.
As a three-star prospect, Dayton has frequently visited Nebraska for practices and games, including a recent Friday Night Lights camp where he showcased his skills in front of Dylan and the coaching staff. He has held a scholarship offer from the Huskers for some time and played a key role in influencing Dylan’s decision to join the program. Their father, former Husker All-American center Dominic Raiola, describes Dayton as a dedicated Nebraska football fan who often discussed Dylan’s choices during their car rides to school.
When Dylan expressed renewed interest in Nebraska, Dayton promptly informed their father, saying, “Dad, Dylan wants to visit Nebraska.” Dominic reflected on how naturally the decision unfolded, emphasizing Dylan’s respectful approach to navigating his options.
