LINCOLN, Neb. – A man from Lincoln, Samuel Peyrot, was declared not guilty by reason of insanity for using a skid steer to cause damage to vehicles and businesses outside a Home Depot.
Peyrot chose to waive his right to a jury trial and instead opted for a bench trial, where District Court Judge Darla Ideus issued the ruling on Wednesday.
The incident took place on January 14, when witnesses captured Peyrot ramming vehicles and inflicting damage on businesses near 70th Street and Nebraska Parkway. Although no injuries were reported, several businesses and a police cruiser were damaged.
Peyrot is set to return to court on November 8.
