Central NE Farm Safety 4 Just Kids is pleased to announce the return of their annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day! The event is being planned for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Valley County Fairgrounds. Registration forms have been sent to area schools and parents should look for the forms being sent home with their children. Forms are also available at local UNL Extension Offices, and the Ord NRCS office. This year, parents have the option of completing the registration via the QR code found on the registration form. More information is available on the Central IV 4-H and Nebraska Extension Facebook page.
Progressive Agriculture Safety Days are for ALL youth who live in a rural area, and not just those who live on a farm or ranch. It is anticipated that interest in attending will be very high this year, so early registration is encouraged. Registrations will be accepted until May 16th, or until the attendance is full – on a first registered basis. Please remember to use the QR code on the form; or send the completed registration to the address on the form and do not return the form to the school. Cargill has generously donated the registration fee for each child to attend the safety day, so there is no charge to families registering before the deadline of May 16th. Each participant will receive a free lunch courtesy of GreenAmerica Biofuels of Ord, a take-home goodie bag, and a safety day T-shirt.
Children attending this year will participate in interactive sessions that reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents’ safety rules and sharing safety tips with their family and friends. Hands-on demonstrations reveal the hidden hazards of rural surroundings and teach participants how to avoid injury and what to do should an accident occur. Demonstrations this year will focus on: ATV Safety, Farm Equipment Safety, Persuader Seat Belt Demo, Stress Management, One Health, Emergency Preparation, and CPR/Trauma Demo.
Many generous donations from local sponsors, businesses and community members ensure that each safety day is a fun and valuable learning experience, and that each participant will receive a goodie bag full of fun and useful safety and health items for themselves and their families to use this summer.
