Martin R. “Marty” Robbins, of Burwell passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, with his family by his side at his home in Burwell, Nebraska at the age of 71.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Church of Christ in Sargent, Nebraska. Kellen Hood will officiate. The family will greet friends on Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Sargent Church of Christ. Martin Roy was born on May 4, 1954, in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He grew up in Minnesota, Colorado and Nebraska. Following High School Graduation in Omaha in 1972, Marty attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln from 1972 to 1974.
Marty and Linda Sue Nelson were united in marriage on September 1, 1973, at Burwell, Nebraska. The couple settled in Burwell in 1973 and were blessed with four children.
Marty initially worked in various capacities, including Zeke and Mel Lowery, Skelly’s Full-Service Fuel Station, Hands Feed Store, ASCS Office and the Burwell Livestock Market. From 1979 to 1998, he served as the Garfield County Clerk. Upon retirement he became the ordained Pastor of the Sargent Church of Christ.
Marty belonged to the County Clerk Association and was involved in the 4-H Horsemanship group. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout then became a Boy Scout Leader for his son’s troop. He was a member of the Burwell Volunteer Fire & Rescue Unit and assisted as an EMT and Underwater Search and Rescue.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Linda Robbins; his four children, Matthew (Landa) Robbins, Melissa (Shane) Hood, Brenda (Paige) Burian and Erin (Justin) Mitchell; nineteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Daniel (Mary Jo) Robbins and Charles Michael (Annette) Robbins; and two sisters, Debbie (Ron) Neider and Shurann Robbins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; mother, Catherine; and stepmother, Almeta Robbins.
