Ella Jean “Jeanie” Jackson of Ord passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the age of 69.
Ella Jean Kokes was born August 6, 1956, in Ord, Nebraska to Eldon and Freda (Dockhorn) Kokes, joining her three older brothers Larry, Charles, and Harold. Growing up on the farm in rural Valley County provided for many adventures and the start of her great love for animals.
Jeanie graduated from Ord High School in 1974. Following graduation, she planned to move to California with her brother, however, she broke her arm and ended up staying in Nebraska. Jeanie connected with Michael L. Jackson, and the couple was united in marriage on June 28, 1975, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary earlier this year.
To their union three children were born, Erin, Adam, and Levi-her little four-letter words she would joke, and then tell how they were named from the Bible. Jeanie had a wonderful wit and sense of humor. Her faith and love of Jesus was the center of her life and could move mountains.
Jeanie enjoyed gardening, china painting, riding horses, wood working and home improvement projects, but above all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a Sunday School teacher, Cub Scout leader, member of the Loup Valley Porcelain Artists, leader of the Show Stoppers 4-H Club, extension club member and worshiped with the very special ladies of the Mira Valley Bible study group.
Blessed to have shared their life with Jeanie are her husband, Michael L. Jackson; daughter, Erin (Brad) Beyke; sons, Adam (Amy) Jackson and Levi (Mackenzie) Jackson; brothers, Larry (Patricia) Kokes, Charles (Cheryl) Kokes and Harold Kokes (special friend, Gina Cortez); six beautiful grandchildren, Joseph Beyke, Brenna Beyke, Breckyn Jackson, Lexi Jackson, Hallie Jackson and Demi Jackson; and her nieces and nephews.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Eldon and Freda Kokes; niece, Royal Kokes; and sister-in-law, Sandra Bisgaard.
