A Norfolk man is facing serious charges after police say he intentionally set fire to a home while the resident was inside.
Authorities say the fire broke out around 3:30 Tuesday morning at a house just north of the U.S. Highway 275 business loop. When firefighters arrived, the resident had already managed to put out most of the flames.
An investigation by the city’s fire marshal determined the blaze was deliberately set and notified police. Detectives later reviewed surveillance footage from a nearby home that allegedly showed the suspect in the area, carrying both a gas can and a long-barreled gun.
