A Central City woman has died following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening east of Grand Island. According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the intersection of East Highway 30 and East Capital Avenue just before 6 p.m. Investigators say a Ford F-350 was traveling westbound on Highway 30 when a Chevrolet Traverse attempted to turn eastbound from Capital Avenue onto the highway and failed to yield. The SUV was struck by the pickup. The driver of the Chevrolet Traverse, 70-year-old Carolynn Luce of Central City, was transported to CHI Health St. Francis, where she later died from her injuries. A juvenile passenger in her vehicle was also taken to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The 20-year-old driver of the Ford F-350 was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities say seat belts were being used, and alcohol is not suspected. The crash remains under investigation by a Hall County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstructionist, with assistance from multiple local and state agencies.
