An Ord resident is celebrating a big lottery win after claiming a $1 million prize from the April 29 Powerball drawing, according to the Nebraska Lottery.
Roberta Trumbo purchased her winning ticket at Trotter’s Whoa & Go Express IV in Ord. One of her plays matched all five white ball numbers — 3, 19, 35, 51, and 67 — just missing the Powerball number, which secured the million-dollar prize.
Trumbo said she realized she had won the following day and described feeling “shaky” after discovering the result. She also noted that she has been playing the same set of numbers consistently for at least the past two years.
Lottery officials say the drawing produced an unusually high number of big winners, with 62 tickets nationwide matching all five white ball numbers. They believe the spike in winners was due to players choosing similar number patterns, as the winning numbers aligned in a vertical column on play slips across multiple states.
Officials also report that another $1 million winning ticket sold in Omaha from the same drawing has not yet been claimed.
