Pamela Kay began her ride of life on March 14, 1961; born the daughter of Donald and Delores (Cooley) Dimmitt in Burwell, Nebraska. Her early childhood was spent at the Vera Paddock Ranch with her two brothers, Donald Jr. and Jeffrey. She attended country school near Burwell until the age 5 when they moved to the Schaffer Ranch near Chambers. She continued her education near Emmet until the family moved to the Shane Farms near Atkinson. When Pam was 16, the family settled in Elyria; finishing her high school years at Burwell High School and graduating from Ord High School in 1979. While in school Pam was active in 4-H horse shows and worked at Fort Hartsuff Historical Park.
Following graduation, Pam earned a cosmetology license from Joseph’s College of Cosmetology. When styling hair wasn’t the thrill, she was looking for, she began working with race horses which took her to many different places including Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Pam returned home to Elyria in 1989 to begin her chapter of motherhood with daughter, Lacey Dimmitt. Pam worked in various capacities, including construction of the Calamus Dam.
Many of her working years were devoted to the Ord Veterinarian Clinic and Ord Veterans Club. During this time, Pam and Kenny Johnson were united in marriage on January 4, 1997, and blessed with their beloved son, Jason Johnson, on April 15, 1997.
Following the Ord Vet Clinic, Pam continued working at the family bar in Elyria and was the manager of the Deli at Shurfine Food Center in Burwell.
Pam became grandmother on July 27, 2026, to Kenton Johnson whom she adored. She enjoyed good food, great friends, loving animals, time with family, Husker football and volleyball, fishing, rodeos, and horse racing.
Her journey came to an end on August 25, 2026, at the age of 65. She will be sorely missed by the many lives she has touched.
Survivors include her daughter, Lacey Dimmitt; son, and daughter-in-law, Jason and Melody Johnson; grandson, Kenton Johnson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Cathy Dimmitt and Jeff Dimmitt; nephew, Ray Dimmitt (Amanda); nieces, Tina Salinas (Trey), Dawn Meyer (KJ) and Dana Hill (Scott); and many great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by parents, Don and Delores Dimmitt and husband, Kenny Johnson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Pastor Kyle Campise will officiate. Interment will be in the Kent Cemetery in Loup County, Nebraska. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family.
