Linda Koehlmoos, 74, of Ord, Nebraska passed away on October 5, 2026. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Linda built a life centered on family, hard work, and caring for others.
Linda Kae, born on September 15, 1952, in West Point, Nebraska, was the daughter of Elwin T. and Vernie L. (Hass) Handke. Growing up on the family farm, Linda learned the value of hard work from a young age.
A graduate of Wisner-Pilger High School in 1970, Linda married Butch Koehlmoos on September 4, 1971. Their union was blessed with three sons: Loren, Lance, and Lonny. Living in Burkburnett, Texas, while Butch was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, they welcomed their first son, Loren, in 1973. Later, they moved to Wayne, Nebraska, where Linda worked at a drugstore and they welcomed Lance in 1978. That same year, they settled in Ord, where their youngest son, Lonny, was born in 1980. Linda dedicated herself to being a devoted full-time mother during these years.
Later in life, Linda resumed her career, starting at Dr. Roger McCartney’s office and working with various local businesses, including Diamonds Too. In retirement, she continued giving her time to others by volunteering at Second Hand Rose and assisting during harvest at Cargill.
Linda cherished time with her siblings, especially when they played cards. She enjoyed sewing with her sister Maralee, and loved baking cheesecakes, cookies, and playing golf with friends. Her greatest joy was her family. Whether she was cooking a meal, spending time together, or engaging in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, Linda treasured being their mom and grandma.
Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Butch; her sons, Loren of Ord, Lance (Sarah) of Lincoln, and Lonny (Megan) of Des Moines; her seven grandchildren, Colin, Kendyl, Estelle, Charlee, Elise, Nora, and Dawson; her brother, Darrell Handke (Susan Klima) of Lincoln; her sister, Maralee Bahe of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Pam Handke of Norfolk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Vernie Handke; her brother, Leon Handke; and her daughter-in-law, Heather Koehlmoos.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church in Ord, Nebraska. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Family’s Choice for future designation.
