ORD — 4H and FFA members from across Nebraska and surrounding states converged on Ord over the weekend for the 9th annual Loup Valley Livestock Challenge.
Participants took part in 14 categories over the two days, showcasing skills in caring and handling livestock. Organizer Terry Christensen says the scholarships kids can earn help propel them to reach goals of a career in ag.
“That’s part of how they grew up,” he says. “It’s in their heart to be in the ag related system somewhere. Whether it’s banking or back to the ranch or farm…whatever. They do want to come back to ag.”
Overall, about 150 people took part in the event. More than $15,000 in prizes and scholarships were awarded.
