ORD — Hearings in Ord and Broken Bow this week gave the public a chance to voice concerns about NPPD’s Muddy Creek Transmission Line.
The project covers an estimated 42 miles between Ord and Broken Bow. The idea is to avoid black outs like the ones in 2012.
Landowners were invited to hear from engineers, surveyors and other representatives of NPPD about how the line affects them. Most public concerns centered around invidual properties rather than major issues with the project as a whole.
“We’ve been working with landowners for about a year to try to help identify any potential concerns,” says NPPD’s Communication Technology & Media Coordinator, Clint Przymus.
“So that, realistically, because of our thorough public involvement process, there really shouldn’t be any surprises.”
From here, the district will work out a route for the line based on their studies and feeback from landowners. After, 30 days landowners will be contacted to start easement negotiations.
Construction on the Muddy Creek Transmission Line is set to begin in Summer 2017 with service ready for the middle of 2018.
