ORD — The Ord City Council voted not to sign a new franchise agreement with Source Gas, which would changed the terms of their current deal.
This isn’t the first time the city has decided to do this. After the company tried to charge Ord $45,000 to lower gas mains as part of a paving project, which wasn’t in their deal, the city was approached with a new agreement about five years ago. In that one, Source would be able to charge for such work.
The city said no to the charge then, but Paul Markowski and the city were approached again. “She approached me with basically the same franchise agreement,” he says. “Through the spirit of cooperation, she was encouraging the city council to sign the new franchise agreement.”
The council’s decision not to sign means tthat Ord and Source Gas stick to the terms of their current agreement, without the extra charge.
