BURWELL — Workers at the Clothing Closet at the First Christian Church in Burwell are ramping up for another holiday season.
The group is collecting winter jackets and other clothing for the impending cold. Kathy Mann helps run the clothing closet and says it helps fill a need in the community.
“Usually, we get 15 to 18 families that come in which represents 50 people or more,” she said. “We’ve had as many as 12 counties and several states, people that just word of mouth and they find out we’re here and open and the clothing is free.”
Some of the clothes go well beyond central Nebraska. Donations could wind up in Grand Island or Lincoln or even across the country and the world.
The operation is next open on December 18th.
