ORD — The branches of a Christmas tree at the Ord Township Library this month will be decorated for Valley County kids who might not get a visit from Santa otherwise.
This is all part of an effort from the Plain Valley Club and the library to make Christmas happen for those less fortunate. Donations are being collected for toys, clothes and food.
Agnes Janda has worked with the project for the last 28 years. “If you’re in need, you need food and clothing,” she explains. “It’s a big help. There’s a lot of people on our list again.”
“It seems like every year,” Janda adds.
People wanting to donate can select a tag from the tree, buy a $20 toy for a child and return the wrapped gift by December 16th. The Plain Valley Club will use the cash donations to buy clothing and food baskets for those in need.
They will deliver those on December 18th.
More than 80 families are expected to be assisted this year.
